About Us

BACKGROUND:

Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery started on 14th June 2010 by the Local Government of the then five (5) Districts of Bunyoro Region namely; Buliisa, Masindi, Kiryandongo, Kagadi spearheaded by Hoima District under the Big Umbrella of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom; is located in Hoima City, which is 200km west of Kampala and in the Mid-western Region of Uganda. Hoima School of Nursing follows Proper guidelines as set by Ministry of Education and Sports and Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council.

It is accredited by Ministry of Education and Sports on ME/VOC/083 to train Nurses and Midwives on certificate level.

However, in line with the presidential pledge as per State of the Nation Address June, 2010 to establish and equip two Nursing Institutions at Kaabong and Hoima, the institution became government Nursing and Midwifery School.

The institution runs the following programs;

  • Diploma Midwifery (Extension) –           1 ½ years
  • Certificate Nursing (Extension) –          1 ½ years
  • Certificate Midwifery –           2 ½ Years
  • Certificate Nursing –           2 ½ Years
  • Certificate Comprehensive Nursing – 2 ½ Years
